One of the best parts about this job besides meeting you all, shopping constantly, working with other creative individuals, etc… is getting to look at amazingly beautiful events all the time! Sometimes we even get invited to them! Eek!
So I thought I’d recap a few of my favorite 2016 trends that are out there… You might not see them all in the Midwest just yet, but don’t worry either they’ll get here soon enough or we’ll bring them here!
The Evolution of Rustic
We all know that the rustic theme is just lingering… But rustic doesn’t just have to be plain, barn wood, ball jars, burlap, and baby’s breath. Dress those farm tables up with lace & lanterns and brass or gold. You can achieve the element of rustic from all different angles. Think about taking a barn and making it a bit more luxe by adding chandeliers or mirrored glass. You’ll love the more glamorous look! And your photos will too!
While picking up our pieces the other evening, I noticed a gal in a jumpsuit and envied her. They are so chic. They just are. So grab one for yourself in white or cream for your rehearsal dinner. You’ll steal the show, obviously and look effortlessly chic and classic! I have to say, I hope that jumpsuits hang around for a while…
*Stay ahead of the trend and consider jumpsuits for your bridesmaids…
and then pick out some Maeve pieces for your big day so we can see this chic magical-ness in action!
Simple Minimalistic Décor
This doesn’t mean empty. This doesn’t mean bare. This just means simple elements. My favorite simple element you can add to any table, arbor, or doors is eucalyptus or a similar leafy green and some very simple candle holders. Seriously, they add the most beautiful natural elements but remain lush and also classic.
No longer do you need to create a special cocktail for you and your day… Throw back to a classic drink like The Old Fashioned, or Whiskey & Bourbon… The traditional elements can never go wrong. Or if you are looking for something light and still want a little bit more of a look, consider using a certain drink ware like copper mugs for Moscow mules or Mint Juleps.
Bistro lighting. Enough said. Will never go out of style in my book.
Which are unfrosted (or partially frosted) and simply adorned with berries or fresh flowers. These cakes are trending from east to west and they are inbetween too! The second one here is from Sassiecakes, a local baketress!
Mixing Modern, Vintage, & Farm
Anything that adds a ton of texture and style is right up my alley. I don’t do well with uniformity typically so mixing these elements is just perfection to me! Don’t be afraid to mix and match. Feel free to use old tables (or ones that look old), mismatched chairs in the same color palate, modern lantern or vases for table decor, a little bit of sparkle, and then maybe hanging chandeliers from a nearby tree… you probably feel like none of these things go together, but trust me, you will be pleased with the outcome…
*And if you trust me enough, we can help you achieve this look with our event styling services.
We are so lucky to get to work in such an eclectic industry that keeps us on our toes as well as keeping our creativity flowing! These are just a few of the trends out there right now… Many others we love, but these are our favorites right now! And remember there’s really no guidelines or rules anymore so take these trends and make them your own! And if you need help with that, that’s what we are here for!
