We know life can be busy, and extra busy when trying to plan a wedding on top of all the other things going on in your life! It’s pretty much a full time job, most likely on top of your already full time job and lets be real, who has time for that?! So here’s a few ways to keep the overwhelming to a minimum and enjoy this time as much as you can!
- Make Sure to Ask For Help
This time should be fun, but there are far too many times that can feel overwhelming. And guess what… there are a ton of people around you who would love to step in and help with things to lighten your load!
Do you have welcome bags to take care of? Programs to make? Or maybe a seating chart to tackle so it can get to the calligrapher? Ask a friend over for wine and enjoy the process together. Most people are willing and want to help, but you have to ask!
Your planner is there to assist your too! That’s their job… don’t have a planner? Maybe consider one as they’ll make your special day flow a lot more easily and allow everyone to enjoy the big moments. We have a few favorites we can share with you if you are in need! Your other vendors will more than likely assist you too! There may be fees associated with this, but sometimes there isn’t and even if there is, the lessened stress might be worth it!
- One Day A Week – “Wedding Wednesday”
Your wedding can create a million tasks by accident… You might be busy with work, family obligations, weddings of friends, etc. So make sure to pick one day a week that is wedding centered. Every “Wednesday” you’ll sit down and tackle your to-do’s. It will feel great knowing you have this day to work on things.
- DIY Is Not Always the Best Bet
While some may think DIY is the best way to go, but it almost never saves money and definitely never saves time! DIYs can be fun for craft parties, or maybe bridal showers, but don’t take on everything DIY or you’ll want to tear your hair out. If you are a crafty gal, then maybe pick 2-3 projects that are easily tackled and can be easily passed off if necessary.
- Let Technology Be Your Friend
Plan The Day – Check it out right now…
Did you? Ok, good.
It allows your to store all your contracts, conversations, guest lists, timelines and more!
- Don’t Set Unreasonable Expectations
Have an open mind. Make sure to have a clear vision, but let it be malleable. You want it to be YOU and not what people have seen before. Just because you saw it on Pinterest does not mean you need to copy it… make it your own… or let someone help you make it your own. Also plan for a little wiggle room in the budget… You never know what you may want to add or cannot live without. If you have a little extra to work with those decisions might not be as painful.
These are just 5 ways to lessen the stress… Wedding can become a full time job so make sure you delegate and ask for help and use everything you can to make the load a little lighter. You CAN have it all but you have to be reasonable. Stay organized, be efficient and allow for change… This will save your sanity and let you enjoy your big day like you should!
